Artist Bio
Denver-based painter Tyree Jones-Evans creates poignant portraits using her knowledge of color and human expression. While her primary discipline is oil painting, her work veers toward a multidisciplinary practice, as she occasionally includes photography, drawing, and collage. She is inspired by light and how it manipulates color, effectively fostering kindred moods in her work.
Her love for color, light, and expression is fundamental, and it continues to unlock potential for different representations within her work. She believes these three visual elements can communicate universally, which creates a deeper exploration into what can be said through a portrait. She is a current resident at RedLine Gallery for the 2024-2026 cohort. She has had work displayed in CVA Gallery, Niza Knoll Gallery, and has been featured on CPR for her work.
